Construction Date Set for $137M High School
The Bellaire City Council approved an updated site plan and traffic study for the new Bellaire High School in Bellaire, TX, a suburb of Houston. Additionally, the council granted a specific-use permit for the property, meaning construction could begin as early as summer 2018 on the $137 million, 425,000-square-foot facility on Maple Street.
In order to increase space on the 18-acre campus, the school’s baseball and softball practice fields are being moved to another site approximately two miles away from the main campus. Construction is anticipated to take approximately 30 months, and will be completed in phases. Move-in for students will take place in early 2021.
Bellaire is among 40 schools throughout Texas that are being rebuilt as a part of a Houston Independent School District 2012 Bond Program.
