Construction Commences on Chicago’s 54-Story 110 N Wacker
Texas-based The Howard Hughes Corporation and Chicago’s Riverside Investment & Development secured the initial construction permits for 110 N. Wacker, a 54-story office tower along the Chicago River. Demolition work has wrapped up on the site of the former 1950s-era low-rise General Growth Building.
The initial $40-million construction phase for the 800-foot tower includes the tower’s caisson foundations, two levels of below-street parking, and a portion of its structural core. Work entails foundation and partial superstructure for the office building, including ground floor slab and building core to the fourth floor, two basements with parking, ground floor retail and associated site work.
Construction work will include both land-based and barge-based equipment. The development is slated to deliver by early 2021. Bank of America pre-leased 500,000 square feet, and will anchor the 1.35-million-square-foot tower.
