Construction Begins on Northern Virginia Science Center

HGA has started construction of the new Northern Virginia Science Center in Sterling, Virginia in Loudoun County.

A partnership between the Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation and the Science Museum of Virginia, the Northern Virginia Science Center has received substantial public and private support from partners across the region. The museum is expected to serve more than 300,000 visitors annually.

Located in the Kincora mixed-use development, the project will create a 70,000-square-foot interactive museum. A national designer of museum facilities, HGA leads the team as both designer and architect of record. Balfour Beatty is building the Northern Virginia Science Center and will work with HGA to leverage sustainable design and building elements such as materials that minimize embodied carbon and the inclusion of pollinator gardens into the landscaping.
