Construction Begins on Avocado Warehouse

Index Fresh, a California-based company specializing in international avocado delivery, is building an avocado distribution center in the southern border town of Pharr, TX.

The 60,000-square-foot facility, just miles away from border hub of McAllen, TX, is set to feature ripening areas and cold storage. Index Fresh’s Dana Thomas said the company had been crossing over the Pharr Bridge with avocados for more than a decade.

Construction on the project is expected to complete in November 2017.
