Construction Begins on 613-Key Austin Marriott Downtown

White Lodging has begun construction on the 613-room Austin Marriott Downtown, adjacent to the Austin Convention Center. The full-service, 31-story project is at Cesar Chavez and San Jacinto, with completion scheduled for summer 2020. Fernando Estala has been named director of sales for the property.

In addition to guestrooms, the Austin Marriott Downtown will offer 64,000 square feet of meeting, exhibit and entertainment space, three bars, and a street-level, full-service restaurant. Another amenity is a seventh-floor pool deck.

White Lodging, headquartered in Merrillville, IN, also developed and owns the JW Marriott Austin, which opened in 2015, and is near the newer hotel. The two properties together have more than 1,600 rooms and nearly 180,000 square feet.
