Consortium Formed to Build Travis County Courthouse
A development consortium, led by Hunt Cos. Inc., has been tapped to build the 430,000-square-foot Travis County Courthouse. When the agreement is finalized, the facility will be built on land bordered by Guadalupe, San Antonio, 17th and 18th Streets in downtown Austin. The facility is scheduled for completion in Q4 2022.
The county has been working on plans for more than a decade to replace the 87-year-old Herman Marion Sweatt Courthouse. The new courthouse will be situated approximately six blocks from the county’s core functions.
In addition to Hunt (supported by Amber Infrastructure), the Travis County Courthouse Development Partners (TCCDP) team consists of:
- Chameleon Cos. (co-developer)
- Hensel Phelps (design-builder)
- Gensler (lead building designer)
- CGL Cos. (lead courthouse designer)
