Connect Healthcare Panelists’ Portfolios Exceed 1,100 Facilities, Hospital Systems Serve More than 9 Million Patients

Healthcare real estate has moved into a prime position within the CRE asset mix. That follows an influx of new capital and record number of acquisitions, dispositions, and mergers in 2018. Today, the most active players are seeking to maintain the momentum in the wake of rising costs and other challenges.

Connect Healthcare, being held October 2 & 3, 2019 at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, will examine the trends, hot button topics, and market forces fueling overall development and investment in the sector. In a panel titled, ‘The State of Healthcare: A View from the Top’, a group of leading healthcare providers (speakers are listed below) will dive into the key considerations shaping their decision-making process today.

This group of panelists represent a combined healthcare real estate portfolio that exceeds more than 1,100 facilities across the West, have a development pipeline of nearly one million square feet, and serves more than nine million patients.

Among the planned discussion topics are how to deal with the coming CMS’s changes to Medicaid that will affect premium rates, plan choices, benefits and enrollment, while impacting a healthcare organization’s growth plans, as well as its operations. The group plans to look at how a proposed Medicare For All option might play out, too.

Another trend to be explored is the shift towards physicians as employees rather than self-employed practice owners. This promises to impact healthcare providers and hospital systems’ real estate footprints, and presents unique opportunities for those in the healthcare CRE space.

Panelists will delve into the challenges that keep them awake, as well as the opportunities they see on the horizon. That would include looking at how an organization’s portfolio might be shaped in the future, healthcare delivery models, as well as the changing relationship between inpatient healthcare providers and specialty care/post-acute/sub-acute ones.

Panelists slated to participate in 2019 Connect Healthcare include:
