Connect Classroom Provides Guidance on Opportunity Zones and Due Diligence

Five years after the enactment of legislation that created the Qualified Opportunity Zone, these investment vehicles still are not widely understood even as they gain in popularity. To help promote an understanding of QOZs, Connect Classroom has devised a series of continuing education courses, including the newest, “Opp Zones: Commercial Real Estate Investing & Environmental Site Assessments.”

Intended for brokers and appraisers, the three-credit-hour course delves into the rules and regulations for Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOFs) and QOZs. It also covers the due diligence an investor ought to perform before putting money into an opportunity zone.

Specifically, a smart investor should have environmental site assessments performed. There are multiple types of environmental site assessments, so it is necessary for brokers and appraisers to understand what they are and when they should be performed.

By taking the course, brokers and appraisers can not only brush up on their knowledge of opportunity zones and environmental assessments but also have the foreknowledge to effectively guide their clients.

Instructors for the course will be some of the leading authorities in environmental due diligence. They include Holly Neber, CEO at AEI Consultants; Stephanie Trueb, ESA Technical Director at EBI; and CEO Joe Derhake, Principal Jenny Redlin, National Client Manager Elizabeth Krol and Technical Directors Nicole TK Moore and Kristine Macwilliams at Partner Engineering & Science, Inc.
