Coming to San Antonio: More Microsoft Data Centers

Microsoft Corp. filed construction documents in San Antonio involving plans to build an additional three data centers for $62 million in Medina County, on the San Antonio metro’s far west side. The development is situated on the edge of Texas Research Park, on land owned by the Texas Research and Technology Foundation.

The Redmond, WA-headquartered technology company acquired the 158 acres on which the data centers will be situated in December 2015. Dirt work already began on the site, which is five miles west of Loop 1604. The facilities are scheduled for completion in August 2019.

Each data center will measure 225,000 square feet, and will include a 14,000-square-foot office space. Corgan Associates is the architect.

Microsoft has been active in San Antonio; the company acquired a 202,000-square-foot data center on Rogers Road in November 2017, and operates a 427,000-square-foot facility in Westover Hills.
