The Mullett, a mixed-use project coming to Fort Worth

Coming to Fort Worth, The Mullett

Goldenrod Companies has picked up the pace on its plans to build “The Mullet”. Developers have started to demolish a series of onetime popular locations. The Landmark Bar & Kitchen, Magnolia Motor Lounge, Playground Bar and the Yard are all coming down; to be replaced by 125,000 square feet of office space, about 260 multifamily units and a roughly 170-room four-star hotel. Goldenrod purchased the properties in 2020. The development is located on University Drive across from the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Why the Mullet? According to the Dallas Business Journal, “We initially referred to it as The Mullet because, until a few weeks ago, we had the museums in the front and three bars in the back of the property,” said Goldenrod’s Brandon Schubert, “And then it just kind of caught on.”

The Mullet will also feature about 30,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space. Design details and programming for the project aren’t finalized. The project’s delivery will be in the third quarter of 2025.
