San Diego will be the host of the major Comic-Con show through at least 2018, said Mayor Kevin Faulconer. The popular event, which takes place in the San Diego Convention Center, takes place this month.

The convention is considered the largest that San Diego hosts regularly.

Part of the terms of the Comic-Con contract extension was an agreement that hotel operators would offer discounted rates for the convention. The crowded convention center was a concern in the past for organizers, but hotel venues also offer places offsite where related events take place.
