Collin Creek Mall Demolition Begins

Work has begun to convert the 37-year-old Collin Creek Mall in Plano, TX into a $1 billion mixed-use project. But first, the old, two-story shopping mall, which is situated on 100 acres at U.S. 75, will be demolished. According to the owner/developer, Centurion American, the teardown will take 90-120 days. Parts of the old mall will be repurposed as an open-air retail and restaurant center. Other sections, however, will be knocked down.

In its place will be a mixed-use project offering entertainment venues, a luxury hotel, office space and more than 2,000 apartments, townhomes and senior residences. Also on hand will be close to nine acres of parks, and 1.6 miles of hiking trails. Centurion American is also considering a Crystal Lagoon water feature.

The first phase of the redevelopment will focus on retail, residential and hotel construction.
