College Park’s $1B Airport City MXU Project Moves Ahead

The City of College Park is moving ahead with its $1-billion, 420-acre ATL Airport City mixed-use project. The City Council unanimously approved the project in a meeting this week. The council is expected to formally adopt a resolution stating the master plan is the framework for the project, so that it can officially move forward.

The master plan, which was designed by Atlanta-based architect Sizemore Group, calls for around five million square feet of office space, as many as six hotels and 758,000 square feet of retail that will include multiple restaurants and an outlet mall. The plan also includes a five-kilometer walking and running trail around the development, as well as a golf-related entertainment venue.

The development site is on the north side of Camp Creek Parkway, west of I-85 and Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, and across from the Georgia International Convention Center. The project was originally envisioned as a $500-million mix of office, hotels, restaurants, retail and residential when plans were announced in April 2018.
