Cold Storage Industry Leader Eyes South Ft. Worth
They call it “cold chain”. It’s the rapidly changing national cold storage industry that focuses on handling, storage, distribution, and other value-added services to the food industry. Arcadia Cold has chosen South Ft. Worth as one of its first three operations. It expects to launch operations by mid-2023.
Arcadia Cold hopes to capitalize on the aging, inefficient food supply chain infrastructure by adding modern, less labor-intensive facilities. Cold storage occupancies are at an all-time high and that’s expected to fuel the need for more national pallet space. A pallet takes up approximately 13 square feet of product. The company hopes to add approximately 200,000 pallet positions of refrigerated and frozen capacity in its new facilities.
Arcadia’s CEO Chris Hughes says the industry could use an upgrade, “We are excited to execute the build-out of a highly fast paced and modernized platform…to an industry that is simply looking for renewed focus.”
