City Planning $62M MXU for the East Side

The San Antonio City Council approved a $61.8 million redevelopment of Red Berry Estate, located on San Antonio’s East Side. The city is partnering with NRP Group and Casey Development to convert the 84 acres into a 330-unit apartment complex, as well as headquarters space for the RK Group.

NRP Group is kicking in $24.9 million, and will handle the development’s multifamily aspect. Half of the units will be available to residents earning less than 80% of the Area Median Income. Meanwhile, Casey Development, which is footing $51.3 million of the bill, will be building the 169,000-square-foot commercial office for RK Group, a local hospitality company.

Casey Development will also renovate the Red Berry Mansion itself, at 856 Gembler Rd. Improvements will also be made to the Salado Creek Hike and Bike Trail system, which runs through the property.
