City of Redmond Acquires Maintenance Center Site for $38M
The Redmond City Council approved the acquisition of a 9.1-acre land parcel from Heidelberg Materials and Aggregates for $38.5 million. The newly purchased site will be home to the city’s maintenance and operations center, replacing an aging, undersized facility currently located at 18080 NE 76th Street.
The current operations center serves as the base of operations for about 150 employees and scores of seasonal staff, housing the teams responsible for maintaining Redmond’s critical infrastructure, including roads, sewers, stormwater, drinking water, and more. The new facility will be purpose-built and modernized to improve efficiency, safety and sustainability.
“Council’s approval of this land purchase supports the commitment to a facility that can deliver efficient, high-quality services to meet the community’s needs well into the future,” said Council President Melissa Stuart. Design of the new center will begin this year, and the city expects to break ground in 2028, with operations at the new location beginning in 2030.
