City Moves Ahead on 6-Acre Sale

The Tyler (TX) City Council voted to move forward on the sale of 6.3 acres to TD Land Management. The vote means the city manager can move forward on the sale, provided a different company with the right of first refusal doesn’t want to buy it.

The acreage, once the site of Old King Chevrolet, is on West Erwin Street and North Bonner Avenue. The land in question is split into two parts on different sides on West Erwin; approximately 3 acres to the south, and 3.3 acres on the north side.

Once the deal closes, the new owner is planning a mixed-use development, consisting of 18 three-story townhomes and retail or businesses on the ground-floor level. William Hersey, who heads up TD Land Management, indicated he would like to leverage tax incentives to develop the property.
