City Kicking off Developer Search for 200-Acre Colony Park
The Austin Economic Development Department wants to find a master developer for more than 200 acres in East Austin, dubbed Colony Park. The Colony Park Master plan was unveiled in 2012, approved in 2014, and allows for up to 960,000 square feet of commercial space and 3,031 housing units.
The land is near Decker and Loyola Lanes, and the AEDD hopes to have a short list of master developers in early 2018. Martin Barrera, the city’s redevelopment project manager for Colony Park, told the Austin Business Journal that the hope is that the project would end up spurring additional development in the area. He added that the city reached out to approximately 1,400 developers and professional organizations about the project.
The deadline for developers’ responses to the request for qualifications is Dec. 21, 2017.
