City Council Oks Zoning Change at Urban District 30

The Mesquite City Council gave developer Urban Logistics Realty the zoning-change go-ahead for the latter’s $71-million, 979,000-square-foot speculative industrial project. The five-building development is slated for groundbreaking in what is dubbed the Urban District 30 area, near Interstates 635 and 30 on the Dallas-Fort Worth metro’s far east side.

City and developer will soon be in discussions about incentive agreements; construction could launch on the project sometime in 2019. The development is anticipated to add more than 500 jobs to Mesquite.

David Witcher, Mesquite’s Economic Development Director, said the project will emphasize green space and public art. “It will be a class A urban industrial campus, and will offer adaptive design elements to clients to attract and retain workforce,” he added.
