City Council Approves Peabody Hotel – and Famed Ducks

Memphis-based Peabody Hotels & Resorts received the nod from the Roanoke, TX City Council to build a luxury hotel in Denton County. The 300-key hotel will offer 25,000-square-feet of meeting space, two restaurants and a spa. A groundbreaking date has not been announced.

Also part of the North Texas Peabody will be a grand lobby, complete with an overlooking mezzanine and a large fountain, where ducks will swim daily. The Peabody Hotels & Resorts’ flagship Memphis hotel has had ducks coming down daily to swim in the lobby fountain for decades.

The new hotel will be on Oak Street, between Alliance Park and Texas Motor Speedway, and will serve as an anchor to South Oak Street, a downtown mixed-use project. BOKA Powell is designing the hotel.
