City Council Approves Agreement for 1K-Acre Redbird Ranch
The San Antonio City Council gave the nod to a special taxation district to assist with development of Redbird Ranch, a 1,000-acre, master-planned development on the west side of Bexar County. Developer McCombs Properties (the development arm of McCombs Enterprises) is planning to add 2,700 single-family homes, at least 700 apartment units, commercial development and 137 acres of amenities and parks on the land, which is along a future stretch of SH 211.
The buildout is estimated to take approximately 20 years. The developer expects to break ground by 2022, pending approval to establish the district from Medina and Bexar Counties.
Under the district parameters, McCombs Properties levy property taxes on residents to recoup costs associated with building out public infrastructure. In return, the developer agreed to comply with tree ordinances, military overlays and development codes.
