City Considers Incentives for T.J. Maxx Warehouse

TJX Companies Inc., parent company to T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, wants to build a $150 million distribution center on 1,200 acres at Loop 410 and U.S. 281. The San Antonio City Council is scheduled to vote on a tax plan for the project next week.

Part of the proposed agreement states the city would not annex the land for 15 years, ensuring lower taxes, and TJX Companies would donate land, including up to 20 acres to the Southside Independent School District.

The distribution center, TJX Companies’ sixth in the nation, would create roughly 1,000 local jobs over five years.
