City Breaks Ground on Two Water Parks

The city of El Paso has been busy this past week, as developers began work on two neighborhood water parks.

Construction began on April 11 on Lost Kingdom, which is being built on open space at Ross Middle School, 6101 Hughey Circle. The park will have a Mayan theme, complete with a lap pool, lazy river, toddler pool, climbing wall, cabanas and concessions.

On April 18, the city held a groundbreaking ceremony for Chapoteo water park, which will be built at Lionel Forti Park in the Mission Valley area, at 7735 Phoenix Ave. City officials indicated that the park is being inspired by local culture and community feedback, with amenities including slides, a lazy river, toddler pool, lap pool, cabanas and concessions.

The projects are two of four neighborhood water parks that are scheduled to open by 2020. A few weeks ago, the city launched construction on the Cohen water park in northeast El Paso.
