CitizenM Hotel Moves Forward in D.C. Despite Pandemic

Dutch hotel brand CitizenM plans to open its first hotel in D.C. on Aug. 27, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which has hit hotels particularly hard.

The 252-room hotel is part of a mixed-use development being built by CityPartners at 555 E St. SW that will also include a 194-unit apartment building and 10,000 square feet of retail. The hotel brand is also moving forward with its second D.C. hotel project, which is planned for 1222 First St. NE in the city’s NoMa neighborhood.

Additionally, the hotel brand has been searching the market for a site to build a third hotel and plans to eventually have between three and five hotels in the D.C. area.
