Cisterra Breaks Ground on Cubic Corp.’s New $100M San Diego HQ

San Diego-based Cisterra Development commenced construction on a $100-million build-to-suit headquarters for Cubic Corporation in San Diego. Cubic is consolidating its two main San Diego campuses onto one site at 9333 Balboa Ave. in Kearny Mesa.

The two, 125,000-square-foot, three-story buildings will bring Cubic’s San Diego-based workforce of about 1,500 workers together onto one centralized location. The site once held a manufacturing facility that was demolished, and another existing building also is slated to be razed. Cubic’s redevelopment will be completed under a synthetic lease structure, and the project is expected to be delivered in December 2020.

Cubic’s Bradley H. Feldmann says, “Cubic has been headquartered in San Diego for six decades and we remain very proud of our heritage.”

The company is best known for its Top Gun fighter pilot training system, but it also has defense related businesses as well as a public transit management division.
