Cinemark Prepares to Build Eight-Screen CUT! at La Plaza Mall
Cinemark Holdings Inc. plans to build an eight-screen, dine-in theater at La Plaza Mall in McAllen, TX. The Plano, TX-headquartered Cinemark will begin construction on the project in April 2020, with the opening planned for early 2021.
The dine-in theater concept, known as CUT!, will offer movie-goers made-to-order menu items and specialty cocktails that can be enjoyed in the auditoriums, as well as the dining, lounge and patio areas. Each auditorium will also offer recliner seats, while the facility, itself, will provide a full-service bar, outdoor patio and self-serve ticket kiosks. The Rio Grande Valley location will be Cinemark’s second CUT! concept in Texas; one is already operational in Frisco, TX.
Simon Property Group LP owns the 1.2-million-square-foot La Plaza, which is at 10th Street and Interstate 2, five miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. The regional retail center is anchored by Dillard’s, J.C. Penney, Macy’s and Macy’s Home Store.
