CIM Plans Montclair Place Redevelopment
Plans to remake Montclair Place include fewer stores and more dining and entertainment options, including a multiplex movie theater. Housing or office could also be part of the new mix at a dated shopping center off the 10 Freeway in Montclair, CA.
Los Angeles-based CIM Group acquired the 1.35-million-square-foot mall for a reported $170 million in 2014, and is seeking to fuse new life into a center that was built in 1968. So far, it has updated the food court into a new 11,000-square-foot food hall called Moreno St. Market (pictured).
Plans include building a new structure on the site of a former Broadway store on Central Avenue, with restaurants on the ground level and theater above. The city expects to issue demolition permits next month, paving the way for construction to start in 2018 and completion by early 2019.
A specific plan for the roughly 72-acre mall is being developed with new uses.
