Cibolo Passes Incentives for $450M “Next Generation” Distribution Center

An unnamed Fortune 500 company is planning a $450 million high-tech distribution center in Cibolo, between San Antonio and Austin. The center is reportedly situated on 126 acres at the former site of the San Antonio Raceway.

The project is expected to generate at least 425 full-time jobs with wages above the median salary of the San Antonio metro area. The distribution center will be run by robots, high-tech equipment, and operators who manage that equipment. The building will feature robotic racking up to 120 feet inside a structure likely 60 to 65 feet tall at the exterior.

The Cibolo City Council approved a package of tax breaks that includes a 75% property tax abatement for 10 years, a 50% rebate of the city’s maintenance and operations property tax for five years and a performance-based sales tax valued at $32.5 million.
