Church of Scientology Sells Former Alexandra Hotel in Roxbury for $11M

The Church of Scientology has sold the former Alexandra Hotel, a 30,000-square-foot property in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood. The sales price was reported as $11 million.

Located at 1767-1769 Washington St., the property was built in 1875 and is known for its combination Ruskinian Gothic architecture with turn-of-the-century technology. The Church of Scientology purchased the abandoned structure in 2010, and after years of planning and design decided that a redevelopment would not properly accommodate its needs.

Christopher Sower, Bruce Lusa, Jonathan Bryant and John Flaherty of Colliers International’s Capital Markets group represented the Church of Scientology in the transaction. The buyer, Alexandra Partners LLC, plans to return the hotel to its former boutique, upscale hotel status.
