CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Tops Out

McCarthy Building Cos. topped out the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline, New Tower Addition. The Houston-based construction company broke ground on the new tower in July 2016; completion is expected to take place by spring 2019.

The new, 12-story tower will include a new imaging room and operating rooms on the second floor, and a new emergency department to replace the current ER. McCarthy Building is also renovating about eight-to-10 blocks of utilities on the hospital’s campus at 600 Elizabeth St.

The $325 million project will also add 200 new patient beds to the current capacity, as well as a new Level 2 Trauma Center. The development is anticipated to create approximately 420,000 square feet of new space, while removing 320,000 square feet of older buildings.
