Christus Santa Rosa to Create Comprehensive Oncology Center

The Christus Santa Rosa Health System announced plans to invest nearly $5 million to convert underutilized space in its South Texas Medical Center facility on Babcock Road into a comprehensive oncology center. Once completed by summer 2020, the center will be the first of its kind in a hospital setting in San Antonio.

The wing is being built on the hospital’s first floor, in what once housed senior behavioral health services. The center, which will provide inpatient and outpatient services, will be near the headquarters of Next Oncology, and will have 19 private patient rooms, nursing stations, an infusion room and family waiting area.

The Friends of Christus Santa Rosa Foundation raised more than $4.7 million through donations to help fund the project. The foundation will continue raising funds to support the renovation and related programming.
