Chicago’s $800M, 76-story Tower Receives Panel Blessing
JDL Development received unanimous approval from the Chicago Plan Commission for One Chicago Square, a 76-story mixed-use development in Chicago’s River North area. The $800-million, two-tower project is located at 740 N. State St., next to Holy Name Cathedral.
The project will also include another 49-story glassy tower atop a shared podium that will replace a parking lot. One Chicago Square is planned to contain up to 869 residential units, offices, retail, heath club and restaurant. The taller of the towers will top out at 1,011 feet.
The Chicago-based developer must secure approvals from the City Council and arrange construction financing prior to commencing construction. If all goes as planned, the project could break ground as early as this year, and open some time in 2021.
