Chicago Narrows List of Casino Bidders to Three
The city of Chicago has narrowed the pool of applicants from five down to three, moving a step closer to selecting a site for its long awaited Casino.
Bally Corporation is hoping its site on the near north side, in the former Chicago Tribune printing plant along the Chicago River, will be chosen, as does Hard Rock for its site just west of Soldier Field. And finally, a group called Rush Street Gaming wants its site at the north end of the megadevelopment known as the 78 to be chosen.
Two proposals that were at various places near Soldier Field were rejected.
The latest shortlist comes after Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration had said previously it would select a final applicant for City Council approval by “early 2022.” Now, that is expected to be by “early summer”.
