  • Cushman & Wakefield announced that the commercial real estate services firm has hired Whittaker Potts to join the firm’s Sunbelt Multifamily Advisory Group. Potts will be based in the firm’s Kansas City office, serving as Executive Managing Director, and will be responsible for multifamily investment sales throughout Kansas and Missouri. He comes to Cushman after eight years with Newmark, where he most recently was a director in investment sales and capital markets.
  • Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) has added Steve Degodny as Executive Vice President with the suburban Chicago agency leasing team. Based in the company’s Rosemont office, Steve will advise building owners and execute customized marketing and leasing programs for office space throughout the Chicago suburbs. Degodny joins Transwestern from Golub & Company, where he oversaw the leasing of commercial properties for its suburban Chicago portfolio.
  • Minneapolis-based Omni Workspace recently appointed Jesus Omana as President of their national services company, Emerald Blue. In his new role, Omana will provide leadership and strategic direction to the business’s overall objectives to meet revenue, sales growth, and contribution targets. Omni Workspace provides strategic oversight and resources to a portfolio of Steelcase and commercial facility services businesses across corporate, healthcare, education, hospitality, and sports industries.
  • Waud Capital Partners (WCP), a growth-oriented middle-market private equity firm, announced the promotion of Matthew Albers to Partner. Albers joined WCP in 2019 as Vice President of Capital Markets. During his tenure, his efforts have resulted in over $5 billion of financing commitments across over 60 transactions throughout WCP’s portfolio. In addition, Matt has made meaningful contributions by providing the firm’s institutional investors with an expanded range of opportunities, including co-investments and private credit.
  • Hilco Corporate Finance (HCF), Hilco Global’s investment banking advisory firm, has named Mark Birkett as Senior Managing Director for Capital Advisory. He will be based in HCF’s Chicago office. Birkett has experience raising capital for middle-market companies, including growth and acquisition financing, refinancings, recapitalizations, and special situations. During his 20+ year career, he has advised clients in structuring and executing optimal capital structures, including senior debt, subordinated debt, structured capital, and non-control equity.
  • Deval Patrick, former two-term governor of Massachusetts and impact investment leader, has joined The Vistria Group as Senior Advisor. Patrick will leverage his expertise across fundraising, deal sourcing, and portfolio performance to further The Vistria Group’s goals of achieving both strong financial returns and significant social impact. Patrick is a pioneer in impact investing, having launched Bain Capital Double Impact, the first such fund in a major investment firm, in 2015 after leaving the governor’s office.
  • The Missner Group and Realterm’s Chicago Stockyard project, a speculative industrial building design project at 1032 W 43rd St., has been recognized as Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. 1032 W 43rd St. is a Class A, 130,354 square-foot industrial development featuring 26 dock positions, 20 trailer stalls, two drive-in doors, and 276 parking spots.
    • Pickleheads and The Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) have released the 2023 State of Pickleball: Participation & Infrastructure Report, which provides an analysis of pickleball participation and facilities in the United States. The report highlights that due to the popularity of the sport, Illinois will need to build 909 courts at a project cost of $31.8 million to keep up with demand over the next several years.
