      • Sterling Bay, a real estate development firm headquartered in Chicago, announced its Chief Diversity & Engagement Officer, Keiana Barrett, will co-lead the city’s Host Committee for the 2024 Democratic National Convention. Barrett’s experience includes commercial real estate as well as the nonprofit and political industries. She served previously at the Heartland Alliance, 4th Ward office, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, and the Congressional Black Caucus. The convention will be held August 19-22, 2024, at the United Center.
      • The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago announced that the organization plans to open a Loop YMCA in partnership with Assemble Chicago, a proposed mixed-use development downtown that will also provide apartments affordable to a range of incomes, a wellness clinic, and a restaurant opening onto a revitalized Pritzker Park. The project is designed by architecture and urban design firm Studio Gang. The Community Builders, a nonprofit real estate organization, will lead development.
      • Chicago is now home to its very own Guinness Brewery. The Guinness Open Gate Brewery opened its doors in Chicago’s West Loop. Located at 901 West Kinzie Street, the restaurant and taproom will feature Dublin-brewed classics, exclusive Chicago-brewed beers, and in-house treats made in the first-ever Guinness bakery. Guinness OGB Chicago will also give back to the community through an annual donation of 10,000 loaves of bread to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, work with local non-profits, and take part in Learning Skills for Life in partnership with YWCA of Chicago.
      • CBRE opened a new office on the 18th floor of the BMO Tower in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The global commercial real estate firm relocated from 777 East Wisconsin Avenue and 648 North Plankinton Avenue, bringing together two of the company’s main corporate divisions into a single space. The 15,330-square-foot office at 790 N. Water Street will house CBRE’s Advisory Services and Global Workplace Solutions. The new workplace showcases CBRE’s ‘Future of Work’ space standards, including innovative technology and collaborative spaces to support hybrid working.
      • DarwinPW Realty/CORFAC International’s Principal Ed Wabick and Associate Marc Hale represented the building owners, The Missner Group and RealTerm Logistics, in a lease of 51,318 square feet of space at 4400 Homerlee in East Chicago, Indiana to Mazzella Lifting Technologies Inc. The new tenant is a manufacturer and supplier of industrial lifting products and is relocating from their previous location in Romeoville to a newly constructed building that offers tax savings in Indiana. DarwinPW Realty/CORFAC International is a privately held real estate brokerage, property management, investment, and development firm based in suburban Chicago.
      • Marcus & Millichap, a real estate investment services firm in the United States and Canada specializing in investment sales, financing, research and advisory services, recently closed a sale out of its Chicago Oak Brook office. Dominic Sulo, Eric Luhrsen, and Brandon Insul had the exclusive listing to market Discovery Point, a net-lease childcare property located at 8700 Trouble Creek Road in New Port Richey, Florida. The asset was sold for $5.65 million to a limited liability company.
