Chicago Developer Plans 76-Story, $700M MF Development
JDL Development is seeking to develop a 76-story, more than $700 million residential tower in Chicago’s River North district. The development would be one of the largest housing projects ever built in downtown Chicago, and at 1,011 feet the tower will be one of the tallest residential buildings in the city.
The proposed project would include nearly 900 apartments and condominiums at State and Superior streets, adjacent to Holy Name Cathedral. The two-tower project, which also includes a 45-story structure, would rise from a nine-floor base that’s planned to include a high-end fitness facility and spa, grocery store, restaurants and retail space.
The city Department of Planning and Development is reviewing a zoning change for such a big project, and the development proposal will be presented at an Oct. 24 community meeting.
JDL Development purchased the site in April from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
