Chicago City Council Approves Land Sale to Developer for Industrial Project
A previously proposed land sale that would replace seven adjacent city lots in West Garfield Park, has been approved by the Chicago City Council.
The lots, totaling 1.1 acres at 4204-32 W. Lake Street, will be sold to developer Lake Keeler LLC, a real estate development and investment company, for their appraised value of $196,000. The $5.9 million one-story, 44,000-square-foot building planned for the site would include two loading docks and 30 surface parking spaces. When fully leased, the facility will create up to 50 full-time jobs.
The City of Chicago also recently announced that a West Englewood community farm and an Austin health center are the first neighborhood investment projects to be assisted with proceeds from the City of Chicago’s new Housing and Economic Development (HED) bond. The HED bond was approved in April to provide $250 million annually for five years of financial support for affordable housing and economic development initiatives, primarily in West and South Side neighborhoods.
