Chicago-Based Portillo’s to Open More Locations
Chicago-based hot dog chain Portillo’s Inc. said it would open nine new restaurants in 2024 after opening 12 last year. The new locations are part of the company’s planned expansion across the country, with the goal of opening 920 Locations over 20 years.
The company confirmed the plans during a fourth-quarter earnings call which also noted that Portillo’s total sales rose to approximately $188 million in Q4, a 24.5% increase, and to about $680 million for FY 2023, up by 15.8%.
Portillo’s is committed to mid-teens revenue growth, focusing on new restaurant growth and positive same-restaurant sales. Portillo’s currently operates 84 restaurants, opening new restaurants last year in Arizona, Florida, Illinois and Texas, including four new restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Known for Chicago classics like hot dogs, Polish sausages and Italian beef, the fast-casual chain has roots in the Windy City, opening the first Portillo’s hot dog stand known as “The Dog House” in 1963 on North Avenue in Villa Park.
