Chicago-based NanoGraf to Build $175M Facility in MI
Chicago-based NanoGraf is planning to build a $175 million advanced manufacturing factory in Flint, Michigan, at the former Buick City site now known as the Flint Commerce Center.
A $60 million federal investment is helping to fund the massive project, which will support the production of 2,500 tons of silicon battery anode materials annually.
“Our expansion into Michigan will allow us to leap to larger scale production to meet national demands for high-performing EV batteries and consumer electronics,” said NanoGraf CEO Francis Wang. NanoGraf is planning to create 150 permanent jobs at the new factory and 200 temporary construction jobs to build the plant.
New York-based Ashley Capital purchased the entire Buick City site, which was rebranded as the Flint Commerce Center. The redevelopment project signed its first tenant, Victory Packaging, last month. NanoGraf will be the second business to announce a project as part of the ongoing redevelopment.
