Chase Provides Funding for Rehab of Three Historic SRO’s in San Francisco

Mission Housing secured crucial funding for the rehabilitation of three historic Single Resident Occupancy (SRO) hotels in San Francisco, the Hotel Madrid, Park View and Gran Oriente. All three SRO’s are located on South Park Street, less than a quarter-mile from Oracle Park.

Mission Housing’s Sam Moss says, “Our mission isn’t just to build more homes. We also work hard to ensure the quality of life for our tenants is the highest available.”

The process to rehab all three hotels began in 2018 following Mission Housing’s acquisition of the historic Gran Oriente, deciding to then combine all three buildings into a scattered sites project. The financing includes tax credits and bonds, along with support from Chase Bank and the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development.

Chase’s James Vossoughi says, “The rehabilitation of the three South Park Street sites will revitalize much needed affordable housing in San Francisco and provide support for the formerly homeless.”
