Charming Charlie Shuttering Stores, Cutting Jobs
Charming Charlie, a retail chain headquartered in Houston, will be shuttering stores and cutting jobs at brick-and-mortar locations throughout the United States. The company, following what it called a “Back-to-Basics strategy,” indicated it would close an undisclosed number of under-performing stores in the U.S., as well as shutting down its Los Angeles office and cutting jobs in its Houston corporate support center and distribution center.
Charming Charlie sells accessories, jewelry, handbags, gifts and beauty products, all of which are organized by color. Interim CEO Lana Krauter indicated that reducing the size and scale of the retailer operations meant a better ability to “read and react to trends and what our customers want,” she said, in a press release. She also indicated that the company is taking steps to ensure “adequate sources of financing and the right capital structure” to keep running.
