Charlotte’s Lower Tuck Filling Up Fast
The bet on the Lower Tuck development has paid off. Third & Urban has spent $140 million to redevelop six industrial buildings and basically convert them into one distinct, 390,000-square-foot retail and office project.
The Lower Tuck development in FreeMoreWest has signed two new leases, bringing a portion of that project to full occupancy. The Charlotte Business Journal reports global manufacturing company Positec moved its global headquarters into a 27,000-square-foot space at 929 Jay St. last spring.
An unnamed international disaster relief organization also signed a lease for 28,000 square feet across two floors. That $2.8 million revamp includes a conference room, private offices, multipurpose collaborative area, kitchen and break room, training facilities, fitness center and warehouse space. Other tenants at 929 Jay St. are Mason Interactive and Interior Elements. And there is more to come. Third & Urban is reworking the project’s future phases to respond to fast-changing market conditions.
California-based construction company Swinerton handled the buildout for the completed projects.
