Chapman University Pays $160M for Anaheim Apartment Complex
In an effort to bolster its campus housing situation, Chapman University has purchased the Anavia apartment complex in the Platinum Triangle neighborhood of Anaheim, CA. The $160 million acquisition is located just two blocks from the Chapman Grand residence hall and will be renamed Chapman Court.
“This new student housing building is a win-win both for our students and community alike. Our neighbors asked us to house more students in Chapman-owned residential facilities, and we listened,” said Chapman COO Harold Hewitt. The new facility, which is located approximately 2 miles west of the Orange, CA campus, will help ease parking and traffic issues around the college.
According to the University, the new building will raise Chapman’s student housing capacity to almost 55% of the total undergraduate population. First and second-year students are required to live in campus housing at Chapman, but juniors and seniors have also been requesting campus housing more frequently.
Individual unit amenities at Chapman Court include a full kitchen, washers and dryers in every apartment, high-end finishes and a large fitness center.
