Champion Gets Green Light on 30-Story Tower in Hollywood
Los Angeles-based Champion Real Estate Co. received L.A. City Council approval on a 30-story mixed-use project in Hollywood. The proposed development at Yucca and Argyle Avenue would include 269 apartments, 7,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and a 414-car garage.
A 1950s apartment complex would be razed and a roughly 350-foot contemporary glass-clad tower would be built. The design plan has changed since initially proposed in 2014, including the height and product mix, with a planned hotel component eliminated in the latest version. A new landscaped plaza has also been added at Yucca Street and Vista del Mar Avenue.
The city’s Planning Commission had approved the Champion development in September. The site is a block east of the Capitol Records Building near the Hollywood/Vine Metro station, an area with several other recent developments including the Kimpton Everly hotel and Related California’s Argyle House apartments, as well as the proposed Hollywood Center development.
