Champaign Medical Complex Welcomes First Employees
The first building at the Champaign medical complex, Carle at the Fields, is open, with the bulk of the campus finishing construction between July 1 and 2019.
Some 1,200 Carle administrative, human resources and marketing employees are moving into the 340,000-square-foot, three-story administrative building. Hundreds of Health Alliance Medical Plans workers will move in this spring.
Two medical buildings, one for Carle and one for the Christie Clinic, and an outpatient surgery center will open in 2019. Before that, a Hampton Inn & Suites will open July 1 on the 210-acre campus at I-57 and Curtis Road. Construction is underway on two identical three-story buildings, developed by Green Street Realty, that will house retail and offices on the first floor, and a total of 56 apartments on the second and third floors.
Between those buildings will be a 10,000-square-foot public plaza.
