CGI Steps Up with Temp-HQ Donation for LA’s Homeless Engagement Team
L.A.-based real estate investor CGI Strategies has donated a 17,500-square-foot building at 639 La Brea Ave. in Los Angeles to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). The Authority will use the building as a temporary base of operations for its Homeless Engagement Team, as support efforts ramp up to meet the complex demands of an urban crisis.
For Homeless Engagement, which directly connects homeless residents with available resources for compelling needs, the space will provide a central gathering spot for a broad spectrum of players in direct homeless engagement for a six-month term, giving teams the chance to coordinate their efforts and collaborate forward, according to Thomas Wong with LAHSA.
According to CGI’s Gidi Cohen, “Our goal is to have a positive impact on the communities in which we invest.”
The company’s future mixed-use development plans at the site include 14 units for extremely low-income households, and one unit for a moderate-income household.
