Cedar Park Studying New Library Locales

The city of Cedar Park, TX, is examining two sites for a new library. The city, which is north of Austin, owns approximately five acres in the Cedar Park Town Center, which is one of the potential locations.

The other site under consideration is in the future Bell Boulevard redevelopment. Cedar Park is in the process of realigning approximately one mile of U.S. 183 near Buttercup Creek Boulevard. The result will be more space that city leaders hope will become a mixed-use destination area.

Voters approved $20.5 million for library renovations or new construction in a 2015 bond. In the fiscal year 2017-2018 budget, $45,000 was set aside for an assessment to help evaluate potential locations. A consultant will be hired by the end of 2017 to evaluate the sites, and design will begin on the library in 2019.
