Cedar Hill Focuses on Pedestrian Improvements

Cedar Hill, TX, a southwest Dallas suburb, unveiled plans to enhance pedestrian accessibility and walkability, as part of its City Center Development Plan. The plan, which focuses on benefits for the city’s three subdistricts — Uptown Village, Midtown and Historic Downtown — presents walking areas, along with a transit-oriented development plan.

The development plan was first introduced in Cedar Hill’s 2010 City Center Vision Plan, and includes a 10-year market assessment, along with proposals detailing the next steps and how various concepts might play out.

According to a report summary, the plan is the result of potential commuter rail services along the BNSF rail line, as well the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Red Line terminus in Midlothian, the next town over. “The final chapter suggests a mobility concept plan . . . which defines the next steps that need to be taken toward the realization of planned mobility objectives,” the report said.
