CBRE’s Brandon Beck Establishes World-Record Golf Birdie Streak

Brandon Beck, who played golf collegiately for UC Berkeley, established a new world record by posting 10 consecutive birdies in a single round of golf in an SCGA sanctioned men’s club tournament at the Gil Hanse designed Rustic Canyon Golf Course in Moorpark, CA. Beck is a research coordinator for CBRE in Southern California. The previous record for consecutive birdies was nine. Beck’s previous best for consecutive birdies was five, set at the 2005 SCGA Amateur.

Beck ended the record-setting day with 11 birdies, a bogey and 6 pars en route to a 10-under par 62 from the blue tees (6,634 yards). The round, played on Saturday, August 17, was witnessed by his father Bruce, a CRE public relations executive and former high school golf coach who was celebrating his 66th birthday. Others in the group included Brandon Faust and Tom Cammalleri, Rustic Canyon Golf Club President, who scored Brandon’s record-setting round.

The younger Beck, who played professionally for four years after graduating from Cal where he was a member of the 2004 NCAA Championship team as a freshman, regained his amateur status in 2013. Beck earned All Pac 10 honors (honorable mention) in his sophomore season after finishing tied for fifth at the Pac-10 Championship, shooting 69-69-72-72 – 282. He also shared the course record of 64 at Haggin Oaks GC in Sacramento, shot in the first round of the California State Fair Amateur in 2005 (since been broken).
