CBRE Snags Retail Assignment for Historic Texaco Building

Provident Realty Advisors hired CBRE as retail leasing agent for The Star, an historic high-rise at 1111 Rusk in downtown Houston. The Star, formerly the Texaco Building, opened in 1915, and currently holds 286 apartments and 26,170 square feet of retail space.

CBRE’s Rachel Farris, Lacee Jacobs and Laura Harness will handle leasing activities for the property, which won awards for historic preservation and adaptive re-use. The street-level retail consists of four corner spots, with the largest at more than 16,000 square feet. Also included is a 4,800-square-foot mezzanine level that can be expanded.

“The Star’s retail spaces offer a unique opportunity for Houston,” Jacobs said. “We don’t often have restaurant space with this kind of character and history. The Star has a great story and gives operators a chance to build something around that.”
